She's living the dream in the old wild west, with her husband Ron, her dog Jesse and her Harley.

Years ago Nath graduated from Oregon State University and practiced for eons within the risk and financial management field. She served on multiple foundation and nonprofit boards of directors. Searching for more, Nath returned to academia for postgraduate study, learning and lecturing in political science, emergency management and homeland security.  She specialized in the rising discontent within global politics; the deadly cyber and street dance between We the People and  their regimes.

In 2014, a mysterious illness brought Nath's postgrad studies and lecturing to a crashing halt. After years of pain, along with the discovery of multiple areas of spinal damage, she was diagnosed with autoimmune diseases of fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. With neuropathy causing dysfunction in her arms and legs and brain fog stealing her words, Nath had to learn how to use her hands, feet and mind all over again. She refused to spend hours in therapy driving away her days, so she devised her own plan and began hiking in the desert, creating and painting paper flowers. Staggering around and mangling tissue paper… that was her life. If you could only have seen her then! She can laugh about it — now.

Her mother is a sculptor whose influence has always been strong, so… Nath's hands have their good days and her art has evolved. After much trial and error, she has established a sculpting process that is ever evolving, making each Nath Raye creation a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art.

Nath Raye - An Artist's Perspective

Desert Radiance in Cactus and Stone

It may take years, but each discovery reveals its inherent essence and form, waiting to be brought to life. Nath draws inspiration from the beauty etched and embedded within each cactus piece’s strong, enduring fibers, which embody resilience and strength. Once the design takes shape in her mind, the cactus is meticulously hand-formed, sculpted, and painted. The result is a harmonious blend of hard and soft cactus fibers, united with a silky, luminous sheen. Each sculpture is finished with multiple layers of UV-protective clear coat and mounted on a carefully chosen base that enhances its unique structure.

While photos can offer a glimpse, this website endeavors to truly capture the allure of Nath's mesmerizing art. It showcases her sculptures in various lighting and settings to highlight their intricate beauty. When you bring a Nath Raye sculpture into your home, its rich meaning, jewel-like colors, and luminous glow will captivate you, evolving and transforming with the changing light.

 * Nath only uses dead cactus carcasses found only in legally accessible areas of the desert, and never, ever tears live cactus from the ground.
